HGV Participated in the Removal Work of Pumice Stones in Motobu Town

As you may have heard in the news, pumice stones have drifted on to the coasts of Okinawa, and white sand beaches are covered with gray pumice stones. Pumice stones are also covering the beautiful white sand beach on the coast of Motobu Town, Okinawa Prefecture, where The Beach Resort Sesoko by Hilton Club opened in October.

On November 21, in response to a request from Motobu Town and the Motobu Tourism Association, 10 people of Sesoko Team Members and their families participated in the pumice removal work together with local residents and people working in the town. Over 400 participants scooped out a large amount of pumice stones on the beach with shovels or hands. The work was carried out for about two hours and 110 bags, a large bag that could be filled with about 1 ton of soil, of pumice stones were removed.

AFTER

"It's really painful to see the beautiful white sand sea, where you can even see sea turtles spawning, turned gray with pumice stones," shared Jyun Takizawa, Okinawa Marketing Manager. "The Beach Resort Sesoko hopes to be a resort that supports each other and grows together with the local community. Thank you to all the Team Members who worked so hard to remove the pumice stones, and we hope that the beautiful white sand sea will return as soon as possible."
