Kings’ Land Receives Consecutive Hawaii Green Business Award
Kings' Land, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club received a Hawaii Green Business Award for their energy efficiency and sustainable business practices. The recognition ceremony took place in the Governor's Ceremonial Room at the Hawaii State Capitol where our Kings' Land's resorts team and other awardees, were praised and acknowledged by Hawaii Governor, Dr. Josh Green, Chief Energy Officer for Hawai'i State Energy Office, Mark B. Glick and Manager and Chief Engineer of Honolulu Board of Water Supply, Ernest Lau.
"Sustainable use of Hawaii's water and energy is essential to our way of life, and clean water, energy and tourism are crucial for our economy," said Governor Green. "When each of us makes a deliberate, meaningful effort to conserve water and energy, the impact we all have on these precious resources is minimized. That is why we are happy to recognize the awardees today, for doing the right thing on behalf of our environment, our land, our water, our people and our state."
A total of 37 businesses, events and organizations from across the state received awards this year. HGV was one of 17 resorts and venue awardees, from across the state that were recognized as a Green Hotels, Resorts and Venue awardee.
The Hawaii Green Business Program was created by the Hawai'i State Energy Office and the Department of Health in 2002. The program provides technical assistance to businesses, government agencies and nonprofits seeking to operate in a more environmentally and socially responsible manner.
"Sustainability is a team effort. In addition to all what is done on the checklist, we are looking to share and mentor other resorts in the region to attain this recognition from the State of Hawaii," said Eduardo Andrews, Senior Chief Engineer, Hawaii. "Bulk amenities, digital directories, and community involvement all contribute to this program."
